Thanks Abi, I'm registered. We've been watching the WW1 footage on silent and improvising to it - so far we only have words and fairly random rhythms, but it's early days...

Hello everyone
in Riverside School today the Team 1 year 11s have been watching the footage of the Battle of the Somme, and talking about it, and composing & improvising music while it was showing. Last Friday the year 10s did the same. We plan to film students playing music and making sounds/ sound effects, solo & in groups, along to the footage. We will then involve as many of the students as possible in editing the sounds/ music. I aim for some spontaneous free improvisation (inspired by the footage), mixed in with sound effects and composed fragments. Other students will be invited to participate.
